Edward Leon High, 40, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, was fatally shot on August 1, 2021. He died at the scene on Burton Street after suffering multiple gunshot wounds during a double shooting; another man was also wounded and taken to a hospital.

Hours after the shooting, police arrested and charged 35-year-old Jimmy E. Jones III of Roanoke Rapids with murder. Jones was also charged with going armed to terrorize the people, two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharging a weapon in the city limits. He was held without bond. Investigators identified Jones as the primary suspect and asked the community to come forward with information, including anonymously.

High’s family and friends described him as a beloved son, brother, and father, and memorial services were held. Does anyone who lived in Roanoke Rapids or was in the Burton Street area on August 1, 2021, have information that could help fill gaps in the timeline or circumstances surrounding this shooting?
