On July 27, 2021, a fire at 109 Loram Drive in Troutman, North Carolina, killed 27-year-old John Lawrence Jay Cook, his father Johnny Bryan Cook, 60, and his mother Angela Duncan Cook, 51. Firefighters discovered the three bodies after extinguishing the blaze. Investigators determined the fire had been intentionally set.
Authorities arrested 21-year-old Corey Alexander Cook, John’s brother, on charges including three counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson. The defendant reportedly declined a state plea offer for three second-degree murder convictions totaling 75 years and therefore faces the possibility of the death penalty if convicted at trial.
What details about the family or the case might help explain how this happened, and can anyone with information about the Cooks or the night of July 27, 2021, help investigators?
