Robert Louis Smith, 21, of Lillington, North Carolina, was found dead in the driver’s seat of a vehicle stopped in the middle of Raymack Drive after deputies answered a disturbance call at about 2:10 a.m. on July 2, 2021. The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office sent his body to the North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s Office, which determined the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head.

The investigation led to the arrest of 25-year-old Alexander Cabrera of Lillington; he was taken into custody at his home on Raymack Drive and charged with Smith’s murder. Cabrera is being held at the Harnett County Detention Center without bond. The investigation into the circumstances of the killing remains open.
