Brian Keith Wilson Jr., 34, was killed by a gunshot on June 13, 2021, in Asheville, North Carolina. The shooting happened in the early morning hours on Riverside Drive below the Captain Jeff Bowen Bridge; officers who answered a 9-1-1 call at about 1:48 a.m. found Wilson deceased at the scene. A second person also suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to Mission Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators identified and arrested 29-year-old Tyrell Devon Warren on charges that include first-degree murder in Wilson’s death and attempted first-degree murder of the other victim, plus possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen vehicle, and hit and run. Warren was located in Monroe, North Carolina, in a stolen vehicle driven by Emily Rachelle Derrick; Derrick was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and held on a $120,000 secure bond.
The Asheville Police Department continued to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and asked anyone with information to come forward. Does anyone have information about Wilson, the Riverside Drive area that night, or sightings of Warren or the stolen vehicle prior to the arrests?
