Frederick Lee was 30 when he was found shot to death inside his home in the 300 block of Monroe Street in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, on May 13, 2021. Police say he was shot in the upper body and did not survive; the Roanoke Rapids Police Department classified the incident as a homicide and opened an immediate investigation.

Investigators identified multiple suspects. Three men — Anthony Ty’Quan Shearin, Shantron Avondre Person, and Stepheon Jaqwan Ashe — were arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Authorities described the motive as robbery, alleging the suspects wanted something Lee had. Two other suspects, Shelvy Travon Edwards and Denzel Ashe, remained at large and were considered armed and dangerous. The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted the investigation.

Lee’s family was notified and the community mourned his death. Has anyone in Roanoke Rapids seen or heard anything that could help locate the two remaining suspects?
