Lamont Eugene Solomon, 49, of Enfield, North Carolina, was fatally shot in the abdomen in the early hours of April 28, 2021, on the 700 block of Low Ground Road. He was taken to a trauma unit but died of his injuries. The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded and investigated the scene.

Authorities arrested 67-year-old Allen Lee Burnette of Enfield and charged him with murder; Burnette was held in the Halifax County Detention Center without bond with a court date set for May 19, 2021. The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
