Edmond Jay Moore Jr., 36, died on April 8, 2021, in Fountain, North Carolina. He was ejected from a vehicle after a crash; EMS performed CPR but Moore was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later found he had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
Authorities arrested 27-year-old Jimmie Speight Jr. of Farmville in connection with Moore’s death. Speight was charged with first-degree murder and several other felonies tied to events surrounding the crash, including first-degree forcible rape, first-degree kidnapping, and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle. Deputies had responded that day to reports of a suspicious person going door to door near King Farm Road and located Speight in possession of a handgun and drugs.
Speight had a prior conviction in 2016 for taking indecent liberties with a 14-year-old and was a registered sex offender. At the time of arrest he was being held on more than $3,000,000 bond. Does anyone have information about Moore’s movements or witnesses near King Farm Road on April 8, 2021?
