Stephen Michael Boggs Sr., 72, was found shot to death in his Selma, North Carolina, home on October 4, 2020. His wife, Brenda McFatter Boggs, 71, was also found dead in the same incident. Their bodies were discovered in the garage after neighbors, who had not seen the couple for about two months, requested a welfare check. The family dog was also in the garage when deputies entered.
Their son, Stephen Michael Boggs Jr., 53, had been living with his parents and was frequently seen coming and going from the house, according to neighbors. He was arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after investigators identified suspicious activity on the parents’ bank account and charged with murder and concealment of death. Neighbors said they had not seen him for at least a week before the bodies were discovered.
The case drew attention because the couple’s bodies went undiscovered for weeks and the investigation was ongoing as authorities pieced together events leading up to the killings. Did anyone who knew the Boggs family notice changes in their routine or see anything unusual in the months before October 4, 2020?
