Kevon Cousar was an 18-year-old senior at A.L. Brown High School when he was shot to death inside his home on Cottage Road in Kannapolis, North Carolina, on January 23, 2020. Emergency crews arrived around 1 a.m. and found Kevon suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper body; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The bullet was fired through the wall of his bedroom and struck him in the chest while he was inside.
Investigators arrested 19-year-old Jermiah Desean Howard, charging him with first-degree murder after Howard turned himself in to the Kannapolis Police Department and was transferred to the Rowan County jail without bond. Police say they have been conducting interviews and collecting evidence to identify those responsible. Family, friends, and classmates described Kevon as kind and well-loved; counselors at A.L. Brown High School were providing support to grieving students and staff. If anyone has information about Kevon’s death, can you contact the Kannapolis Police Department?
