Marquise Dijon Perry, 27, was shot and killed during an apparent armed robbery at the Oak Tree Apartments in Nashville, North Carolina, on November 14, 2019. Responding officers found Perry dead from a gunshot wound; his girlfriend was discovered bound with zip ties and her 12-year-old son was present and unharmed. The robbery was tied to a large amount of cash Perry had been seen carrying.

Authorities arrested 35-year-old Antwan Ray Hawkins of Charlotte, charging him with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony breaking and entering. A second suspect, 20-year-old Montreal Tyrek Cooper of Rocky Mount, was implicated, had confessed to details not publicly released, and was at large; the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in locating him. Investigators searched the Tar River at Lamon’s Ferry Bridge after an anonymous tip but recovered no evidence; a reward was offered for information.

If anyone has information about the robbery or Cooper’s whereabouts, please share what is known with the Nashville Police Department.
