Cesar Otniel Felix was 18 when he was shot and killed during a home invasion on Lake Cole Road in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on November 8, 2019. Masked intruders in dark clothing forced their way into the residence where Felix often visited his girlfriend; she was wounded in the attack.

Felix had recently graduated from White Oak High School and was preparing to join the military. He lived with his grandparents in Midway Park. The investigation initially went cold because of limited leads and a lack of witness cooperation; the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office reopened the case in September 2023 after receiving new information and potential leads. The victim’s father, Cesar Felix Sr., has been actively urging anyone with information to come forward, including anonymously, and officials say people in the community may know more than they have reported.
