Timothy Austin Hall, 51, of Landis, North Carolina, was found shot to death at 314 Town Street on the night of August 16, 2019. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and seeing a dark SUV drive away; officers arriving at the scene found Hall dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities named the incident a homicide and the Landis Police Department called in multiple agencies, including the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and the China Grove Police Department.
Investigators said the shooting did not appear to be the result of a domestic disturbance and believed robbery may have been the motive. In September 2020 two people were arrested in connection with the case: Kiquan Larence Freeman, 28, charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, and Elizabeth Raye Freeman, 60, charged with murder. The case remains under investigation.
