Kenneth Armstrong, a 22-year-old African American man, was shot at a public pool in Matthews, North Carolina, on June 19, 2019. He was driven to Novant Health Matthews Medical Center after the shooting and later died of his injuries. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded and opened an investigation.

Police identified a suspect vehicle from witness accounts and surveillance footage and conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of 21-year-old Tadaran Jaquan McDonald on a charge of murder. The motive for the shooting is not stated.
