Madison Moore, 28, a third-grade teacher from Landis, North Carolina, died on June 8, 2019, after a fatal gunshot wound inside a Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Kannapolis. A 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun carried in her purse discharged and struck her abdomen. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast and later pronounced dead.
Moore taught at Knollwood Elementary School in Salisbury and had married Craig Lee Moore in March 2018; the couple had a daughter. Her obituary described her as selfless and kind, devoted to family and students. The Concord Police Department investigated and concluded the shooting was accidental, finding the firearm belonged to Moore and noting no signs of foul play; no arrests were made.
Does anyone have additional memories of Madison or information about safety measures that might help other families prevent similar accidents?
