Latisha Lee, a 31-year-old African American woman from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, was found unresponsive and pronounced dead on February 13, 2019, after Rocky Mount police answered a call to an apartment on Drew Hills Court. She had been assaulted and stabbed; officers opened a homicide investigation at the scene.
Two men were later arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death. Limichael Pittman, 26, was charged while already in the Bertie County Jail on unrelated matters and was transferred to the Nash County Jail. Dewayne Cozart, 31, was arrested in Rocky Mount and held without bond in the Nash County Detention Center. Lee’s funeral was held at Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount, and she was buried at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Anyone with information about what happened that night or who knew Latisha is asked to come forward.
