Henry Rogers, a 70-year-old carpenter from Rowland, North Carolina, was found shot to death inside his home on Union School Road on January 24, 2019. Neighbors remember him as a well-known local craftsman; the shooting left the small community shaken.

The investigation led to the arrest of 18-year-old Skyler Nakota Lowery, who had worked for Rogers the previous summer and was acquainted with him. Lowery was charged with first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied property and was taken into custody without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center.

Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said the investigation is ongoing and that the motive remains unclear. Anyone with information about what happened at Rogers’s home on January 24, 2019 is asked to contact the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
