Rodney Wells, 47, of Lillington, North Carolina, was shot to death and found in front of his home on Jarvis Lane, off N.C. 55, just before 4 p.m. on August 10, 2018. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation.
On August 11, 2018, 39-year-old Deldrid Maurice Hines of Erwin was arrested and charged with Wells’s murder; he was taken into custody without incident and held without bond. Three other Erwin residents — 26-year-old Cody Keen Pope, 38-year-old Crystal Lee Chestnut, and 32-year-old Justina Amber Moore — were arrested and charged with accessory after the fact of murder. Pope and Moore also faced outstanding probation violation warrants. Each of the three was held under $500,000 bond and scheduled for first appearances.
Authorities did not release a motive or say whether the suspects knew Wells. Does anyone have information about Rodney Wells, his movements that day, or the people named in the case?
