Darryl Allen Wright, 34, of Salisbury, North Carolina, was shot and killed on August 3, 2018, during a double murder at Town Creek Park. He had been known locally as a mechanic who ran American Roadside Service, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was active in Friendship Freewill Baptist Church.
The other victim was 40-year-old Sabrina Annette Pinkston Curzi. Reports indicate the shooting happened at a gazebo during what appeared to be a picnic; witnesses described a chaotic scene and said the suspects fled in a dark midsize car. Police investigators determined the attack involved a confrontation with gang members and that Curzi was shot while defending her children.
Arrest warrants were issued for Willie Earl Williams Jr., described as 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. Williams was later arrested in Greenville, North Carolina. Two other men, Eugene William Black, 24, and Ronald Earl Powers, 32, were also arrested; Black and Powers faced common law robbery charges, and Powers faced an additional assault inflicting serious bodily injury charge.
Did anyone in the Salisbury area know Darryl or have information about the events at Town Creek Park that afternoon?
