Richard Locklear was 26 and from Shannon, North Carolina when he was killed on July 23, 2018. He was riding home with family in their pickup truck in Hoke County when the vehicle stopped at the intersection of Shannon Road and Old Wire Road and two suspects approached and opened fire. More than 30 rounds were fired into the truck; Richard was killed, a male adult passenger was shot, Richard’s wife was injured by shattered glass, and their 2-year-old son in the truck was unharmed.
Authorities said jewelry and money were taken from the victims and that the suspects had followed the family from a house party earlier that day. Three people identified as Laroyce McLean, Sherron Leach, and James Quick were arrested and charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder.
Does anyone have information about the party, the route the family took, or firsthand details about what happened that night?
