Daquinn Fernando Blount, 23, was fatally shot on July 16, 2018, on Grant Drive in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was found dead after a shooting about 4 a.m.; another man was wounded and taken to a nearby hospital. Blount was originally from Roanoke Rapids and lived in Lithonia, Georgia.

A narcotics search warrant at the Grant Drive residence turned up 372 grams of marijuana, 10 dosage units of heroin, 84 dosage units of oxycodone, and drug paraphernalia. Investigators said they believed the incident was drug-related and were awaiting ballistics results before filing charges.

Two men, Donovan Malichi Gonsalves, 29, of Georgia, and Czar Claude Luther Celestine, 39, of Brooklyn, New York, were later charged with murder in connection with the shooting. Marc Anthony Solomon-Cartagena, 29, the Grant Drive resident, was charged with accessory after the fact; he had an August 15 court date and had not yet received bond as of the latest reports. Gonsalves was also injured in the shooting and released from a medical facility; Celestine had earlier faced drug and obstruction charges before murder charges were filed.
