Colton Kyle Murray, 22, of Burlington, North Carolina, was found dead on April 13, 2018, in the sunroom of a home on Tarleton Avenue. He sustained gunshot wounds to the head and chest. Colton did not live at the house but was related to the homeowner and visited there occasionally.

Investigators charged multiple people in connection with his death. Joselyn Elizabeth Carden, 20, and Jacqueline McCall Frost, 23, were initially arrested on conspiracy to commit robbery and later charged with first-degree murder. Devonta Lamont Hinton, 21; Donte Malik Harbour, 23; and Kaleb Jeremiah Freeland, 19, were charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Kristiana Yesinia Mancini, 22, was charged with felony obstruction of justice, and Ezra Dejesus Brent, 21, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
