Eric Donta Covington, 30, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, was found dead the night of December 20, 2017. Officers discovered him around 11:52 PM and the Goldsboro Police Department has classified his death as a homicide.

Covington left five children, all under the age of six. Family members and community activists have held protests and marches, with his young children wearing shirts bearing his picture, to demand action and express frustration over the case remaining unsolved.

Police say they have suspects but do not have enough evidence to make an arrest. The family’s calls for more decisive investigative work highlight a wider concern about multiple unresolved homicides in Goldsboro.
