Eugene Staley Sr., 47, was found dead in his Ramseur, North Carolina, home on November 20, 2017, after his 8-year-old son ran to neighbors’ houses for help around 2:45 a.m. Officers found Staley suffering from both gunshot and stab wounds. The boy sustained injuries consistent with a severe beating — open wounds, bruises, and contusions — and was treated first locally, then transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Investigators concluded the attack was not random: there were no signs of forced entry or robbery, the State Bureau of Investigation took over, and authorities believe Staley likely knew his attacker. Police records show 13 prior responses to the Columbia Avenue home, suggesting prior problems at the residence. In the days after the killing, Everett Hunter Jr., 23, was arrested during a Randolph County traffic stop and charged with first-degree murder; Casey McCoy was also sought on a first-degree murder charge and described as armed and dangerous, with a reward offered for information leading to his capture.

Does anyone have information about Staley, the Columbia Avenue address, or contacts who might help clarify what led to this attack?
