Lavar Ahkeem Bailey, 28, was shot to death on the night of July 30, 2017, at Pisgah View Apartments, a subsidized housing complex in West Asheville. Officers responded about 10:40 p.m. to multiple calls of shots fired near Building 39 and found Bailey unconscious with a gunshot wound; he was taken to Mission Hospital and pronounced dead.

Bailey’s killing was the fourth shooting at Pisgah View Apartments that year and the second fatality. Bailey and his partner, Tiana Bailey, and their three young children had been featured in a 2014 Citizen-Times series about child and family homelessness.

Does anyone who lived near Pisgah View Apartments in July 2017 or who knew Lavar or his family have information that could help investigators?
