Donald Girtley Jr., an 18-year-old from Goldsboro, North Carolina, was shot and killed on May 31, 2017, in Kinston at the Mitchell Wooten Housing Complex. He was pronounced dead at the scene; a second victim, 23-year-old Demone Nesbitt of Kinston, was also shot and died en route to Vidant Medical Center. The Kinston Police Department opened a homicide investigation and said the shooting was not random, although one victim appeared to have been an unintended target.

Police arrested a 15-year-old male and charged him with the murders; his name was not released because he is a minor. An additional person, Nicholas Xavier Edwards, 18, of Kinston, was charged with felony obstruction of justice. Authorities were also examining possible links between these killings and several shootings in the Goldsboro area over Memorial Day weekend.

Family and friends have held vigils and prayer services for the victims. Does anyone have information about the Mitchell Wooten Housing Complex incident or the Memorial Day weekend shootings that could help investigators?
