Deangelo Patterson was 26 when he was shot and killed on March 29, 2017, at a home on Tuskegee Street in Laurinburg, North Carolina. A Scotland High School graduate (Class of 2010) and a machine operator at FCC in Laurel Hill, he left behind his fiancée Alexia Steele, three children, his mother Sheila Blue, and extended family.
Authorities say the shooting grew out of a family conflict between Deangelo and his older brother, Terrence Terrell Green, then 29. Investigators report Green forced entry into the home and began shooting. Two other people, Darrell McCrimmon and Gill McRay, were wounded; McCrimmon suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was listed in critical condition while McRay was treated and released. Terrence Green was charged with first-degree murder and several additional offenses.
Funeral services were held April 2, 2017, at Purcell Funeral Home, and Deangelo was buried at Hillside Memorial Park. Anyone with information about the shooting or the events that night is asked to come forward.
