Johnathan Alex Nipper, 38, of Shannon, North Carolina, was shot to death on March 28, 2017, at Piney Bay Mobile Home Park in Shannon. Officers who responded to a call found Nipper with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation.

Authorities identified 18-year-old Delton D’wayne Graham Jr. as the primary suspect and charged him with first-degree murder. Another 18-year-old, Nyrek Shamaud Moore of Raeford, North Carolina, was accused of driving Graham away from the scene and was charged with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder; Moore was held in the Hoke County Detention Center on a $500,000 secured bond. Graham had fled before deputies arrived and was being sought by the sheriff’s office. The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.
