Bobby Ray Pegg, a 45-year-old father of three from Barnardsville, North Carolina, was found dead in his home on March 23, 2017 after his niece discovered his body. Authorities determined he had died from multiple gunshot wounds; the death was not initially ruled a homicide until evidence of foul play emerged. Pegg was remembered locally for his giving nature and sense of humor.
Timothy Robert Gallion, a 51-year-old Barnardsville resident who was on parole and wearing a GPS monitor, was placed near Pegg’s home the day before the body was discovered. When stopped on the day Pegg’s body was found, Gallion was intoxicated, in possession of multiple firearms, and had blood smears on his hands and inside his vehicle. A 9mm Cobray pistol with an extended magazine found in Gallion’s possession was linked to the killing. Gallion was convicted of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and driving while impaired, and received life without parole.
Did anyone in Barnardsville know Bobby Ray Pegg or have information about his activities in the days leading up to March 23, 2017?
