Curtis Howard Wisher III, 25, was fatally shot on January 30, 2017, in the parking lot of the Millstone Shopping Center outside Snap Fitness in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Known as CJ, he was born December 6, 1991, in Dover, Delaware, graduated from E.E. Smith High School in 2010 and completed the Barbering Program at Miller-Motte College in October 2015. At the time he worked for Phoenix Incorporated delivering construction materials.

McLaurin allegedly began shooting as Curtis exited his car. Curtis was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died. McLaurin was arrested with assistance from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, charged with first-degree murder, and held at the Cumberland County Detention Center; he made a first court appearance on February 1, 2017, and was denied bond. Reports indicate the shooting stemmed from an argument over a woman.

Curtis’s father described his son as devoted to family and pursuing a barbering career. If anyone has information about Curtis, the events that night, or knew him, please share what is known.
