Tony Lashuan McRae, 31, was one of two brothers fatally shot on January 1, 2017, on Shana Lane in Asheboro, North Carolina. Tony and his brother Quanta Guan McRae were found shot early that morning; a woman at the scene was also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries. The Asheboro Police Department responded and opened a homicide investigation.

Tony was born May 6, 1985, in Randolph County, attended Asheboro City Schools, played basketball and football at Asheboro High School, and was active in the Eastside Boys and Girls Club. Family remembered him for his sense of humor, outgoing personality, and devotion to his children and mother.

Authorities identified two suspects, Rodney Jontae Patterson and Curtis E. Little, and issued first-degree murder warrants. Patterson, described as 6 feet 5 inches and about 160 pounds, turned himself in; Little, described as 6 feet 2 inches and about 320 pounds, was at large and considered armed and dangerous. Reported motive was an argument that escalated between the McRae brothers and the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
