Lawrence Wallace was 22 when he was shot and killed on September 28, 2016, in the 300-block of McKay Drive in the Spring Lake area. Wallace and another person were sitting in a car just before midnight when, following an argument with 30-year-old Terrell White of Siler City, shots were fired. Wallace died of his wounds; the other occupant was wounded and expected to recover.

Deputies arriving at the scene found a group of women holding White; he had tried to flee but was quickly apprehended. He was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder and was held at the Harnett County Detention Center without bond. The shooting followed an argument that investigators say escalated into the fatal attack.
