Maria Fay Snook, 33, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, was found dead at her home on August 24, 2016, the result of a gunshot wound. Deputies responding to a shots-fired call at 2106 Dawson Cabin Road located her body in the front yard. The shooting followed a domestic argument between Maria and a man identified in the investigation as 42-year-old Joseph Julio McGarry.
McGarry attempted to flee but was captured after a short foot chase and was charged with second-degree murder. Friends described Maria’s relationship as tumultuous; those who knew her said she deserved better. She is survived by her husband Quinton Snook, their daughter Lilyana, and her parents Neel and Doris Davis.
Anyone who knew Maria, the household at Dawson Cabin Road, or who has information about the events of August 24, 2016, is asked to come forward.
