Garrett Howard Bridges, 25, was shot and killed during a home invasion at about 1 a.m. on July 2, 2016, at his residence on Herndon Court in Clayton, North Carolina. Two masked suspects entered through a back door while Garrett was asleep in the living room; he died of a single gunshot wound to the chest. Children were present in the home but were not harmed.
Investigators concluded Garrett likely knew his attackers. Nearly four years later, on June 15, 2020, Clayton Police arrested 29-year-old Terrelle Andrews in Macon, Georgia, and extradited him to Johnston County to face trial. Authorities said the arrest closed Clayton’s last unsolved homicide at the time but that the investigation remained active and additional arrests were possible. Garrett’s mother, father, and grandmother publicly expressed gratitude to detectives and acknowledged both Garrett’s struggles and their love for him.
If anyone has information about the home invasion or the people involved, contact the Clayton Police Department.
