Deyelle Ahmad Morrisey was a 15-year-old freshman found shot to death inside his home at 300 Rollingwood Drive in Dudley, North Carolina, on November 23, 2015. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office ruled the cause of death a gunshot wound and has conducted extensive interviews and follow-ups, but no arrests have been made.
Witnesses reported two men leaving the scene in a white Chevrolet Impala after the shots were fired. Descriptions were vague; investigators have suggested the shooting may have been gang-related but do not believe Morrisey was involved in gang activity and suspect he may not have been the intended target. The Governor’s Office added a $5,000 reward, bringing the total to $12,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Morrisey lived with his family in a quiet neighborhood, and his death has left the community grieving. If anyone has information that could help bring those responsible to justice, please contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
