Michael Thompson, 48, of Rowland, North Carolina, was killed in a double homicide that rocked the town on October 30–31, 2015. Thompson and another man, Anthony Ray Brown, were found dead at a residence on Brown Street early morning on October 30, and investigators concluded both victims had been robbed with circumstances suggesting a financial motive.
Two suspects, Gerry Devonta Quick and Christopher Lademaien Brown, were charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony conspiracy in connection with the deaths. Both men were taken into custody and held without bond after arrests made by a coordinated effort involving the Rowland Police Department, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Rowland had not seen a murder since 2008 and had not experienced a double-homicide in at least 17 years, which intensified community interest. If anyone knew Michael Thompson, Anthony Ray Brown, or has information about what happened that night on Brown Street, please come forward.
