Timothy Gene Nobles, 27, was shot multiple times while driving on the 400 block of Cox Avenue at Heritage Street in Kinston, North Carolina, on May 31, 2015. After being shot he managed to travel less than 100 yards before his vehicle struck a utility pole; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation stalled for years despite witnesses who reportedly had information and did not come forward. On January 13, 2022, new information led Kinston Police to arrest 32-year-old Marquez Outlaw of Kinston on a charge of murder; he was booked into the Lenoir County Detention Center without bond. On February 22, 2022, police obtained a murder warrant for 42-year-old Michael Fisher and arrested him in Kinston, also jailed without bond. Authorities say community cooperation and the District Attorney’s Office helped those developments.

The case remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kinston Police Department’s Tips Line or Lenoir County Crime Stoppers.
