Antonio Tony Darnell Walker, 29, was shot and killed during a home invasion at his family residence at 611 Fifth Avenue in Spencer, North Carolina, on October 8, 2014. His uncle, James Arthur Walker Jr., 43, known as Junior, was also killed after being struck with a gun while trying to defend the family. Family members said three masked men wearing gorilla masks entered the home and one specifically asked for Tony by name before the two men were shot; Tony collapsed in the living room beside his uncle.

Investigators from the Spencer Police Department, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office treated the double killing as targeted rather than random. Police said the suspects believed Tony was a drug dealer and expected to find money. Kenneth Wayne Abel Jr., 28, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony murder; he later accepted a plea to testify against relatives Darius Abel and James Mikey Robinson, with sentencing expected to include more than 20 years for Abel. Evidence at trial included a du-rag, gloves, a gorilla mask, a cellphone and Walmart surveillance showing purchase of the masks.

Did anyone in Spencer know Tony or his uncle and notice anyone suspicious around 611 Fifth Avenue before October 8, 2014?
