Quincy Gregory, a 29-year-old African American man, was shot in a school parking lot on the 600 block of West Rockspring Street in Henderson, North Carolina, on August 24, 2014. He and another man, 33-year-old Amil Davis, were taken to Maria Parham Medical Center with gunshot wounds. Davis was treated and released; Gregory’s injuries were more serious and he was transferred to Duke University Medical Center, where he died on August 27, 2014.

Investigators arrested 17-year-old Kyshaun Leondree Norrell of Henderson and charged him with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, discharging a firearm on educational property, and discharging a firearm in the city limits. Norrell was held in Vance County jail without bond and had a first court appearance scheduled for September 8, 2014.
