Arthur Lee Brown, 78, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, was found dead in his bedroom on July 19, 2014, the result of a gunshot wound to his back. His death was later determined to be a homicide. Brown and a neighbor, David McKoy, were killed during what investigators described as a robbery at Brown’s home; about $150 in cash and several firearms were taken.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the killings: Gregory Crawford, Kevin Britt, and Donovan Richardson. Crawford and Britt were arrested shortly after the crime, and Richardson turned himself in a few days later. The suspects were charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and burglary. Reports indicate the investigation found the crime was not random and that the suspects may have known the victims.

The community and the families of Brown and McKoy were left reeling by the violence. If anyone knew Arthur Brown, his routines, or who might have targeted him, please share information that could help complete the picture for investigators.
