Roger Dale Sisk, 65, was found dead at his residence on Baker Drive in Shelby, North Carolina, on June 23, 2014. A retired truck driver and member of Trinity Baptist Church, he was remembered for enjoying television, puzzles, and cooking. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Louise Kiser Steen Sisk, and is survived by son Faron Dale Sisk and daughter Claudia Sisk.
Authorities identified 59-year-old Schuyler Mark Camp as the suspect. Camp had been living with Sisk for a few weeks before the killing. Deputies responding to Sisk’s home were met with gunfire from Camp; after a standoff of more than an hour Camp was injured, surrendered, and was taken into custody. Sisk’s body was located inside the apartment. Camp was charged with first-degree murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill a law enforcement officer.
Family members expressed shock and suggested a possible drug- or medication-related motive. Camp’s record described multiple felony convictions dating back to 1979, including a prior murder conviction, and documented mental health issues. Did anyone in the Shelby area know Sisk or have information about who was staying at his home in June 2014?
