Mark Gregory Bodden, a 44-year-old African American man, was shot and killed inside the Cary apartment he shared with his mother and brother on February 2, 2014. The residence was 2101 Talking Rock Drive, Bexley at Triangle Park Apartments. Their mother called 911 at 8:47 a.m.; Mark was still breathing when the call was placed but died shortly afterward.

Police say the dispute began when Kevin Leroy Bodden, 54, returned from running an errand without enough money and argued with Mark about rent. Kevin allegedly shot Mark three times in the chest and twice in the back with a 9mm handgun. Kevin Bodden was arrested later that day in Durham and charged with first-degree murder.

The family had been living together; Kevin had been staying with his mother and brother for about five months after moving to Cary from Columbia. This was reported as Cary’s first homicide of the year. Does anyone have information about the household or the days leading up to the shooting that could help clarify what happened?
