Jovan Lee Morris, 25, was last seen by family on the evening of July 5, 2013, walking to his car in the Woodstock II apartment complex parking lot in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. His vehicle was found at the complex with the driver’s side door unlocked and the keys left in the ignition. He was reported missing July 6, and on July 13 his body was found in a ditch on Florida Road in Pasquotank County. The death was ruled a homicide; investigators confirmed he had been shot.
The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office, the Elizabeth City Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are handling the case. No arrests have been announced and the investigation remains active. A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and prosecution. Family members describe Jovan as bright and loving with a contagious smile and continue to press for answers.
Does anyone who lived near Woodstock II or traveled Florida Road in July 2013 remember anything that could help the investigation?
