Shabazz Arness Woods Jr. was an 18-year-old African American male who was found dead in a yard on Seymour Drive in Goldsboro, North Carolina, on January 24, 2013. He had suffered a fatal gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide. The Goldsboro Police Department opened an investigation into the circumstances of his killing.
In September 2019, Brittany Megan Sasser, a 28-year-old teacher with Wayne County Public Schools, was charged with accessory after the fact to murder in connection with the case. Sasser was suspended with pay from Rosewood High School and held in the Wayne County jail on a $75,000 bond. The police indicated additional arrests were expected.
Funeral services were held at Bethel Church, with burial at Willow Dale Cemetery. He was survived by his parents, Tara Phillips and Sebastian Woods, siblings and extended family. Does anyone have information about Shabazz’s last known movements or who might help advance the investigation?
