Zhen Bo Liu was 60 when he was murdered on June 14, 2012, in Wilmington, North Carolina. A Chinese immigrant who worked as a food delivery driver, Liu was ambushed while making a routine delivery. The attackers took the food Liu was delivering and later returned to rummage through his car.
The investigation led to the arrest of six people, five of them teenagers. Cornell Haugabook Jr., then 20, was convicted of first-degree murder and received life without parole. Mustafaa Friend, then 15 and described as firing the initial shot, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and other charges and was sentenced to 23 to 31.8 years. Marvin White, 18, was sentenced for conspiracy to commit robbery; his brother Michael Damon, 16, was also implicated.
Liu’s wife, Yin Mei Fu, described him as kind and generous. The case left the family and the Wilmington community devastated. If anyone knew Liu, saw him working that night, or has information about the attack, please come forward.
