Antonio Fernando Lilly, a 30-year-old African American man, was shot and killed in Troy, North Carolina, on April 18, 2012. The shooting happened about 12:45 a.m. in the 700 block of Eldorado Street. Lilly was found partially in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene; his body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill.

Police Chief Kenny Allen said Lilly did not live in the neighborhood where he was found and that a confrontation had occurred on the sidewalk before the shooting. At the time of the incident no suspects had been identified and authorities were actively pursuing leads; the case remained unsolved and no arrests were made. A community service was held at the Lelah R. Levin Auditorium and visitation took place at Harris Funeral Home in Mount Gilead.
