Larry Craig Cox, 67, of Climax, North Carolina, died of a gunshot wound on February 9, 2012, after an argument with his wife, Margaret Cox, then 66. The argument began the evening of February 8, 2012, and a gun was discharged during the confrontation, fatally injuring Larry Cox.

After the shooting, Margaret Cox placed her husband’s body in an outbuilding on the couple’s property and did not seek medical help. Deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office later found Larry Cox deceased; his body was sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for autopsy. Margaret Cox was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.

The case attracted attention locally because the couple had been married for many years. If anyone knew the Coxes or has information about events leading up to February 8–9, 2012, please come forward.
