James Stanley-Dewayne Whisenant, 42, of Connelly Springs, North Carolina, was killed on January 16, 2008. He was born June 28, 1965, and was a father, grandfather and brother who owned and operated J & W Auto in Hickory for several years.

The death was a homicide committed with a gun. The victim’s wife, Diane Melinda Whisenant, who was 35 at the time, was arrested and charged in connection with his killing. The case drew attention because the perpetrator and victim were married, and court proceedings and multiple litigations followed.

James’s family recall him for his role in their lives and his work in the community. Does anyone have information about James’s life in Connelly Springs or memories that could add to the record?
