Jeffrey Robert Peck, 52, of Statesville, North Carolina, died on December 16, 2007, in a shooting at a Shell gas station on Broad Street. He was a resident of Sandy Avenue and associated with Kewaunee Scientific Corp. Peck was a member of the Native American Squeamish Tribe and enjoyed NASCAR racing and watching football and baseball.

The shooting was part of a double murder that also claimed the life of 29-year-old store clerk Jennifer Vincek. According to police reports, the shooter, a teenager named Ramseur, shot Vincek after she gave him cash from the register and then shot Peck as he attempted to make a 911 call. Ramseur was tried in Iredell County; the jury convicted him of two counts of first-degree murder.

Peck is survived by his son Jeffrey Robert Peck Jr., his daughter Jennifer Irene Peck, and five grandchildren. Does anyone have memories of Jeffrey or information about that night to share?
