Mitchell Todd Stimpson, a 40-year-old white male from Courtney, North Carolina, died on December 4, 2007. A self-employed electrical contractor and racing veteran at Bowman Gray Stadium, he is described as a devoted father, son, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marlene Reavis Stimpson, and stepson, Justin Ian Reavis; he is survived by his daughter, Lauren Stimpson, and his fiancée, Cheryl Wooten.

According to reports, the fatal events began when neighbor Robert Main shot and killed his wife, Linda Main, then went to Stimpson’s house and shot Mitchell Stimpson. Investigators say Main suffered from a mental illness and that the shootings followed a dispute and an argument months earlier; Main reportedly believed Stimpson was having an affair with his wife. Main was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of robbery.

Does anyone in the community remember Mitchell or have information about the dispute with Robert Main that could shed light on what led to that day?
