Phaedra Renee McCrimmon, 34, of Cameron, North Carolina, was shot multiple times and died of her injuries after being found on a porch on December 11, 2006. She was taken to First Health Moore Regional Emergency Department and then airlifted to UNC Hospitals, where she later died.

Also found dead at the scene was 42-year-old Herbert Recee McNeill Jr., who lived at the residence and died of a single gunshot wound. Authorities described the incident as an aggravated assault and have not released a motive; the investigation remained open.

McCrimmon’s death was reported amid a larger increase in domestic violence homicides in North Carolina in 2006. Anyone with information about the December 11, 2006 shooting is asked to come forward.
